【英语国际】印度新德里感受到强烈地震

Tremors from what appeared to be a sizeable earthquake struck the Indian capital Monday, with the aftershocks lasting several seconds.

The quake was felt at approximately 1:10 p.m. local time.

A spokesman at the Earthquake Operations Center at the India Meteorological Department, based in New Delhi, attributed the tremors felt in the capital to an earthquake that he said measured 4.9 on the Richter scale with an epicenter in the state of Haryana, which borders Delhi.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured the earthquake in Haryana at 5.2 magnitude at 1.11 p.m. local time 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Delhi.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

Earthquakes are fairly frequently felt in New Delhi, often stemming from quakes near the Himalayas. But rarely are the aftershocks felt for as long as they were Monday.
